Operation
Tow Point Tow Point
The tow point is an added convenience to the operator
for making minor adjustments to mat thickness while
paving. A screed height gauge is located on both sides
of the paver to provide the operator with a quick refer-
ence to the location of the tow point.

1. Before paving, refer to the tow point gauge (located
on both sides of the operator platform). (Figure
4-63)
2. Raise or lower the screed until the cable rod end is
ush with “0”on the decal.
3. Set the Grade/Slope switch to SLOPE on both
sides of the main control panel. (Figure 4-64)

4. Slowly move both joysticks forward.
5. Use the Thicker/Thinner switch on both sides of the
control panel to adjust mat thickness as you pave.
6. While paving, refer to both gauges to make minor
screed adjustments using the tow point.
Set the Screed Extension, Flight Set the Screed Extension, Flight
Screw, and End GateScrew, and End Gate
The main screed is heated by S-curve heating elements
and equipped with replaceable, heavy-duty wear plates.
The screed extensions are heated by a blade element.
Dual vibrators, heavy-duty tow points, heavy-duty crown
and valley mechanism and a 3-Adjuster screed system
featuring AOA (angle-of-attack) and vertical height
adjustment add even more screed control.
Set the screed extension and its components when
paving widths exceeding eight (8) feet. (Figure 4-65)
You can extend or retract the screed extension using
the extension switches on the main control panel or
remote screed control box described on the following
page.
Heat screed extensions before making any adjustments.
(Use the wrench provided.) When adjusted correctly,
pressure on the rear edge of the extended screed is the
same as the rear edge of the main screed, resulting in a
smooth mat the length of the screed.
• To operate the ight screw, turn clockwise or
counterclockwise to adjust the angle of the screed
and depth of the pavement mat.
