1.Touchthestatic-protectivepackagethatcontainsthenewfantoanyunpaintedmetalsurfaceonthe
server.Then,removethenewfanfromthepackage.
2.Orientthefansothatthefancablepointstothesystemboard.
3.Lowerthefanintothefanslotintheserverandensurethatisitseatedcorrectly.
4.Connectthefancabletotheconnectoronthesystemboard.(See“System-boardinternalconnectors”
onpage23).
5.Insertthefancableintothecableretainerclip.
6.Installtheairbaffle(see“Replacingtheairbaffle”onpage250).
7.Rotatethehot-swaprearharddiskdrivedownward(see“Rotatingthehot-swaprearharddiskdrive
cagedown”onpage156).
8.Installtheservertopcover(see“Replacingtheservertopcover”onpage248).

Toremovearearfan,completethefollowingsteps:
Step1.Readthesafetyinformationthatbeginsonpage“Safety”onpagevand“Installationguidelines”
onpage30.
Step2.Turnofftheserver(see“Turningofftheserver”onpage19)andallattachedperipheraldevices.
Disconnectallpowercords;then,disconnectallexternalcablesfromtheserver.
Step3.Removetheservertopcover(see“Removingtheservertopcover”onpage247).
Step4.Rotatethehot-swaprearharddiskdrivecageup(see“Rotatingthehot-swaprearharddisk
drivecageup”onpage155).
Step5.Disconnectthefancablefromtheconnectoronthesystemboard.(See“System-boardinternal
connectors”onpage23
Step6.Graspthetopofthefanwithyourindexfingerandthumbandliftthefanoutofthefancage.
