LS SERIES SERVICE MANUAL
ISSUE 4.0 NEXYGEN PLUS 3 DIAGNOSTICS 13
3 Attach the extensometer to the calibration device and set the calibration device to zero
extension.
4 Click on the START button then press the Zero key on the software console to zero the
machine extension display.
The "True Reading", "Measured Reading" and "Relative Reading" fields will now display
extension values.
Note that the RELATIVE READING is the "Zeroed" extension and this is the extension
value that is recorded during the calibration.
5 Select TENSION in the "Direction" drop down box.
6 Move the calibration device to the first required position.
7 Record the extension value displayed on the software console into the calibration sheet.
8 If the displayed extension reading is NOT within specification, a calibration point will be
required.
9 The value displayed for the True Reading will be automatically set to a rounded extension
value, e.g. if the console displays an extension of 14.95mm, the true reading will be set to
15.00mm.
If the True Reading is not showing the required value, manually change the TRUE
READING shown on the software console.
10 Click on the ADD button to TEMPORARILY add this calibration point into the system.
Note that a dialog may be displayed requesting if this calibration point is also to be
calculated and stored for COMPRESSION.
11 Continue the calibration by moving the calibration device at the required intervals up to
the full range of the extensometer, entering calibration points as necessary.
12 If a calibration point or points were entered, then these need to be stored into the
extensometer EEPROM
Click on the SAVE POINTS button then click on the CLOSE button
Calibration data points are now stored into the extensometer EEPROM so all extension
values will now be corrected.
Re-enter the calibration screen then repeat the extension measurements to VERIFY the
extension readings.
13 The extensometer can be calibrated in the compression mode by following the same
procedure except that COMPRESSION is selected in the DIRECTION drop down box.
