8.6 Opening the Hand Held Remote
Remove the 5 off self tapping screws holding the rear cover to the body then remove the rear
cover.
When refitting the rear cover, ensure that the spacers are fitted correctly over the mounting
pillars. Do NOT over-tighten the fixing screws.
8.7 Removing the Top Cap
Removing the top cap gives access to the top of the leadscrew and the top bearing plate.
Note that the top cover does not have to be removed for routine maintenance.
If the loadcell is seriously overloaded the machine will stop and it may not be possible to move
the crosshead to release the load. If this occurs, the leadscrew may be manually rotated to
release the force.
Remove the 2 screws securing the top cap to the top of the vertical column. Pull the cap
forwards so that the lower fixing block inside the top cap is clear of the top plate.
Insert a thin bar through the hole in the leadscrew.
Rotate the leadscrew counter-clockwise to remove a Tension load or clockwise to remove a
Compression load.
When refitting the top cap, place the front edge onto the front of the top plate then slide the cap
backwards to engage the fixing block under the top plate. Refit the securing screws.
