8.8 Lubrication
Note that the motor and gearbox are sealed for life and require no routine maintenance.
Note that the leadscrew top and bottom bearings are pre-greased during production and
should not require additional lubrication.
If the top leadscrew bearing requires additional lubrication, remove the top cap then apply
lithium grease to the top of the bearing cage using a soft brush. If the bottom leadscrew bearing
requires additional lubrication, remove the lower fabric blind then apply lithium grease to the top
of the bearing cage using a soft brush.
Expose the leadscrew by pulling the fabric blinds away from the crosshead "Velcro" fasteners.
Clean the full length of the leadscrew and the linear rail with a soft lint free cloth soaked in
machine oil.
Apply a small amount of lithium grease to both grease nipples on top of the moving crosshead.
Note that a grease gun with a flexible hose will be required to reach these grease nipples.
