ISSUE 4.0 FAULT FINDING 6
SYMPTOM PROBABLE CAUSES AND ACTIONS
Crosshead will not
move either up or
down
Motor drive fault.
Check that the LED DS1 is lit on the Motor Drive PCB. If
not, check the fuse and the +12V zener diode D6 on the
PCB.
Check the LED DS3 is lit when a Jog key is pressed. If
not, check the enable signal from the Main PCB.
Check that DS2 and DS4 are not lit on the Motor Drive
PCB.
Check the PWM signal on pin 2 of the PWM Driver IC.
Check the +12V supply on the PCB.
Check the +High Current DC Supply on the Motor Drive
PCB
Motor only runs in
one direction.
Check the console for any error messages.
Check that both limit microswitches are closed.
Check that DS2 and DS4 are not lit on the Motor Drive
PCB.
Motor runs at
maximum speed
Motor encoder fault.
Check the +5V supply on pin 1 of the encoder plug. Also
check the two quadrature encoder pulses on Pins 3 and 4
of the encoder plug. If not present, check the encoder by
substitution.
