8. Pry the roller retainer loops out of the shoe web holes
(see Figure 8-16). Pivot the roller retainer to swing the
loops clear of shoe webs.
9. With a large screwdriver or lever, lift the upper shoe and
remove the roller and retainer as a unit (see
Figure 8-17).
10. If springs are connected by spring post (horse collar),
push cam end of upper shoe toward the cam. Otherwise
push cam end of both shoes toward cam. With a spring
removal tool, hook onto the spring and pry to unhook the
upper shoe return spring (see Figure 8-18). Remove the
spring and discard.
11. Do the same for the lower return spring.
12. Repeat step 8 for the lower shoe roller and retainer.
