10. Do not use any other tools as these will
permanently damage the cylinder. Work
across the entire length of the cylinder.
Never gouge or leave at spots on the
cylinder, and work only in an up and down
motion.
11. After removing any contaminants, wipe
away any remaining residue on the surface
with a clean cloth.
12. Now it is time to move on the next section.
WARNING
The ironing cylinder will
be moving without the
protective backplate in
position. Make sure everyone
is at a safe distance
from the unit.
Take every precaution
to keep hands and loose
clothing from coming into
contact with any of the
moving rolls.
Serious Injury Could Result.
One person should be ready
at a red safety STOP button
at all times to stop the unit
if necessary.
13. Turn power ON at the main disconnect
switch and turn the SPEED knob to the
slowest speed.
14. Use the JOG REVERSE button to access
another portion of the cylinder. Do not
use the JOG REVERSE button more than
necessary.
15. Turn power OFF at the main disconnect
switch.
16. Repeat Steps 9 to 15 to clean the entire
surface of the ironing cylinder.
17. Remove the temporary protective cover-
ing.
18. Reposition the return ribbons around the
idler rolls and reconnect the return ribbons.
Stagger the positions of the lacing clips to
give the atwork a smooth ow.
19. Remove the wire/string/guide tape holding
the return ribbon guide assembly in the
high position.
20. Verify the return ribbon tension spring
is functioning correctly; refer to Return
Ribbon Tension Spring Replacement
on page 7-37.
21. Remove the tape holding down the protec-
tive backplate switch; then, replace and
secure the protective backplate at the rear
of the unit. This piece should be handled
by two maintenance personnel.
WARNING
Never operate the unit unless
all safety covers are in place
and all safety equipment is
working correctly.
