Start-Up
The following steps are suggested for starting
the unit at the beginning of each day.
1. Perform all of the daily preventive main-
tenance procedures, except for waxing the
ironing cylinder. For more information,
refer to Daily PM on page 4-3.
2. Make sure to clean both temperature
contact shoes under the feed table. Gently
blow or wipe o lint and other contami-
nants. Check that each shoe contacts the
cylinder surface fully and rmly.
3. Have atwork fully washed and extracted,
sorted, and ready to process.
4. Make sure the TEMPERATURE control
dial is turned to OFF.
5. Turn power ON at the main disconnect
switch.
6. Press the green START button. The but-
ton’s green lamp should light and the
rotating elements begin moving.
7. Turn the SPEED CONTROL knob to the
slowest speed.
8. Make sure the ironing cylinder, feed, and
return ribbons are moving, and the exhaust
blower is running.
9. Perform a safety check:
• Press a red safety STOP button. All
moving parts should stop.
• Restart the unit.
• Test each of the 3 remaining red safety
STOP buttons in the same manner.
• Restart the unit.
• Press the red safety nger guard at the
front of the unit (Figure 3-3, B). All
moving parts should stop.
3.3 Standard Operating
Procedures
In the normal operation of the unit, it is
desirable to follow consistent operational
procedures. By training operators to follow the
same set of guidelines for standard procedures,
operator safety and eciency are maximized.
General routines include:
• Start-Up
• Waxing
• Flatwork Handling
• Clearing a Jam Safely
• Shut-Down

page 3-15.
