3.5 STEP 4—REVIEW THE iNET’S
CONFIGURATION
3.5.1 Getting Started
Start with the Access Point. It should be the first unit to be set up as the
Remotes are dependent on its beacon signal to achieve the “associated”
state.
Once the Access Point is up and running, move the computer connection
to each of the iNET Remote units and review their configuration, set
their IP addresses and wait for each to achieve the associated state.
With all units associated, you will be ready to connect and test your data
services.
3.5.2 Procedure
The following is a summary of the configuration procedure that must be
done on each unit in the system. Key parameters are highlighted on the
embedded Management System flowchart on Figure 2-39, Management
System Menu Flowchart, Page 67. A complete list of all parameters can
found Tables 2-7 through 2-12, beginning on page 68. Detailed informa-
tion on using the Management System can be found in INTRODUC-
TION on Page 17 in this manual.
NOTE: The Management System supports the use of “configuration
files” to aid in uniformly configuring multiple iNET units.
These are detailed in USING CONFIGURATION FILES on
Page 62.
3.5.3 Basic Configuration Defaults
Table 3-1 provides a selection of key iNET operating parameters, their
range, and default values. All of these are accessible through a terminal
emulator connected to the
COM1 serial port or through a Web browser
connected to the
LAN Port. (See Figure 5-1 on page 97 for hookup.)
NOTE: Access to the iNET’s Management System and changes to
some parameters, are controlled by password when accessing
by means of a Web browser or Telnet.
