Experiment for Measuring the Direction of Corrosion-Cell
Currents in the Electrolyte
PROCEDURE
1. Place the zinc and copper at the sides of the tray.
2. Add 1-1/2 inch of tap water to the tray.
3. Set the meter to the V DC scale.
4. Connect the meter to the zinc and to the reference electrode as indicated in
the figure .
5. Record the electrode potential with the reference electrode in the two
positions indicated in the figure.
6. Evaluate the direction of current.
