7.1 Error recovery and reporting
The Phenom is capable of performing a routine self-check. If a parameter is found out of
specification, the system will perform an auto recovery.
During self-check you will notice no difference in operating the system. Only when auto
recovery is performed, touch screen functionality will be disabled until the operation has
been completed.
If auto recovery was not successful, the system displays an alarm message with possible
instructions. If the problem persists, consult Phenom-World’s Customer Support:

7.1.1 Rotary knob state indicator
The Rotary Knob LED has been enabled as an additional indicator to support the error
r
ecovery and reporting function. In the event that the system can not recover itself from an
error, the rotary knob LED (blue) will flash in conjunction with the error message that is
displayed.
If this is the case you will need to contact Phenom-World’s Customer Support and provide a
brief description of the error.
7.1.2 Error messages and warnings
Errors in the image screen are displayed in the status window (fig.3, 7). The error texts that
can appear are explained below. In the rare case that multiple errors occur at the same time
a combined error text might appear (e.g. Stage/NavCam Error). In addition to the text an
error code is displayed. When contacting Phenom-World’s Customer Support please
provide the error code as well.
Instrument in Error
The Phenom encountered an error that the automatic recovery mechanism doesn't
recognize. Phenom-World’s Customer Support. Customer Support can use the PRA portal
to diagnose the exact error.
Optics Error
The Phenom encountered an error in the optics system. It will first attempt automatic
recovery. If the problem persists contact Phenom-World’s Customer Support.
System Error
The Phenom encountered a general system error. It will first attempt automatic recovery.
If the problem persists contact Phenom-World’s Customer Support.
Electronics Error
The Phenom encountered an error in the electronics. It will first attemp automatic recovery.
If the problem persists contact Phenom-World’s Customer Support.
Source Error
The Phenom encountered an error in the electron source. It will first attempt automatic
recovery. If the problem persists contact Phenom-World’s Customer Support.
Persistent Source Error
The Phenom encountered several errors in the electron source. Contact Phenom-World’s
Customer Support.
Vacuum Error
The Phenom encountered an error in the vacuum system. It will first attempt automatic
recovery. If the error is caused by a leak in the sample holder, unloading the sample holder
might help the recovery process. If the error persists contact Phenom-World’s Customer
Support.
