DIESEL INJECTION
Diesel injector: Removal - Refitting

a Insert the wipe-covered extension piece and end
piece down into the bottom of the well.
a Clean the injector well (pay particular attention to the
mating face of the washer).
a Remove the CLEANING CLOTH from the well.
a Insert a large diameter Phillips screwdriver (Ø > 8
mm) into the well to block the opening to the com-
bustion chamber.
a Blast out any scale residue in the well using a com-
pressed air nozzle.
a Remove the screwdriver and repeat the cleaning
operation for the injector well concerned twice in
succession.
II - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART
CONCERNED
a Remove the blanking plug from the nozzle of the die-
sel injector(s).
a Refit:
-a seal on the new diesel injector(s),
-the diesel injector(s),
-the diesel injector bracket.
a Torque tighten the bolt of the diesel injector brac-
ket (27 N.m).
III - FINAL OPERATION
a Connect the diesel injector fuel return rail to the die-
sel injector(s).
a Refit the high pressure pipe(s) between the injector
rail and the diesel injector(s) (see 13B, Diesel injec-
tion, High-pressure pipe between the rail and in-
jector: Removal - Refitting, page 13B-87) .
a Connect the battery (see Battery : Removal - Refit-
ting) (80A, Battery).
a Check that there are no diesel leaks.
a Refit the engine cover.
a Apply the after repair procedure using the diagnos-
tic tool :
- connect the diagnostic tool,
- select "Injection computer",
- go to repair mode,
-display the "Before/after repair procedure" for the
computer selected,
- select "Injector" in the "List of components stored
by this computer" section,
-carry out the operations described in the "After re-
pair procedure" section.
Note:
Swivel the cloth covered socket and extension
piece around inside the well.
