EXHAUST
Catalytic converter: Removal - Refitting
K9K, and 830 or 832

a Undo the catalytic converter upstream strut bolt (6) .
a Remove:
-the catalytic converter upstream strut bolts (7) ,
-the catalytic converter upstream strut,
-the catalytic converter nuts (8) ,
-the catalytic converter,
-the ring of the catalytic converter exhaust flange,
-the seal between the catalytic converter and the
turbocharger.
REFITTING
I - REFITTING PREPARATION OPERATION
a Always replace the ring of the catalytic converter ex-
haust flange.
a parts always to be replaced: seal between turbo-
charger and catalytic converter (10,09,01,08)
a Use ABRASIVE PADS to clean the joint face:
- the intermediate pipe,
- on the catalytic converter in case of reuse,
- the turbocharger,
a Use SURFACE CLEANER (see Vehicle: Parts
and ingredients for the repairwork) (04B, Consu-
mables - Products) and CLEAN CLOTHS to de-
grease the joint face:
- the intermediate pipe,
- on the catalytic converter in case of reuse,
- the turbocharger,
a If replacing the turbocharger studs, torque tighten
the turbocharger studs (9 N.m).

WARNING
To ensure proper sealing, the gasket surfaces
must be clean, dry and not greasy (avoid any fin-
ger marks).
