Place the Petri dish in the centre of the insert, avoiding the frame of the
glass insert (gure 5-3). Short working distance objecves might touch
the insert before the specimen is brought into focus, depending on the
thickness of the glass and the dimensions of the Petri dish. Dishes with
a diameter larger than 60mm may need posioning by hand if the area
covered by specimen preparaons exceeds 40mm in diameter.

The moving stage plate is heated, allowing a dish to be posioned away
from the centre of the stage should this be required.

Place the Petri dish such that the area of interest is over the hole in the
centre of the insert. The eecve range of movement is limited by the
diameter of this hole (normally 25mm). Reposion the dish by hand to
view specimens that are outside the area of the hole. It may also be
necessary to reposion the dish if specimens are close to the edge of
the hole or if short working distance objecves are being used, as the
objecve might contact the insert.
Metal heated inserts are secured in posion using magnets, the insert
can be lied out by pulling upwards. When lowering the insert into
posion ensure that the insert is rotated unl the magnets re-aach the
insert securely.
The RI Droplet Organisaon Guide (Part Number 6-30-600) can be used
to posion droplets within commonly used Petri dishes in order to ensure
that all droplets are accessible by the pipees.
Exercise cauon when reaching for stage XY control that the
Fine Control Lever is not knocked, especially when switching
to the Integra 3 aer using other stages that have the stage
XY control in a dierent posion.
