2. Take an empty and clean Petri dish (set-up dish), and lightly scratch a
cross in its centre, on the upper surface. This must be the same type
of Petri dish as used clinically.
3. Select a low magnicaon objecve (4x without spacer). Place the
Petri dish on the stage and use the microscope focus control to focus
on the cross. Do not adjust the microscope focus again and do not
remove the dish unl the pipee set-up is complete.
4. Select the set-up objecve (4x with spacer).
5. Li the Set-up Levers to the raised posion. Insert holding and injecon
pipees into the MPHs and clip the MPHs into the toolholders (PL3).
6. Adjust the angle of each pipee by turning the Pipee Angle Control.
7. Align the bend in each pipee by turning the Pipee Rotator unl the
toe of the pipee is in a straight line.
8. Use the Axial Drive to move the pipees so that the ps are close to
each other. Look into the eyepieces and bring the p of each pipee
to the centre of the eld of view. Use the Axial Drive, if necessary, to
adjust the pipee p sideways. Use the Centring Control to move the
pipee p forwards or backwards. The p might be out of focus - this
does not maer and will be adjusted next.
