Control Logic
Trip Logic (TRn, ULTRn, TDURD)
In addition one of the following must occur:
SELOGIC control equation setting ULTRn asserts to logical 1.
The front-panel {TARGET RESET} pushbutton is pressed.
The TAR R (Target Reset) command is issued via the serial
port.
The front-panel {TARGET RESET} pushbutton and TAR R (Target Reset)
serial-port command are used primarily during testing. Use these functions to
deassert the TRIP Relay Word bit to logical 0 if test conditions are such that
setting ULTRn does not assert to logical 1 to automatically deassert the TRIP
Relay Word bit instead.
EXAMPLE 4.9 Trip Logic SELOGIC Control Equation Settings
See the SEL-587Z Settings Sheets in Section 5: Setting the Relay for
setting ranges.
The following is an example of using SEL
OGIC control equations in
setting the trip, output, and unlatch functions.
High-impedance elements 87A2, 87B2, and 87C2 and time-
overcurrent elements 51PT and 51GT trip directly.
TR1 = 87A2 + 87B2 + 87C2 + 51P1T + 51G1T + 50P1 Trip Conditions
Both time-overcurrent element pickups 51PP and 51GP must be
deasserted before the trip logic unlatches and the TRIPn Relay Word
bit deasserts to logical 0.
ULTR1 = !(51P1 + 51G1) Unlatch Trip Conditions
Route the result of the trip logic in Figure 4.7 on page 4.16 to output
contact OUT1 with this SEL
OGIC control equation:
OUT1 = TRIPn Output Contact OUT1
See Output Contacts on page 4.20 for more information on
programming output contacts.
