Section 5
Setting the Relay
Introduction
This section contains tables of relay settings for the SEL-587Z Relay. The
relay hides some settings based upon other settings. If you set an enable
setting to OFF, for example, the relay hides all settings associated with that
enable setting. This section does not explain rules for hiding settings; these
rules are discussed in the applications sections of the instruction manual
where appropriate.
The settings prompts in this section are similar to the ASCII terminal prompts.
The relay front panel {SET} pushbutton provides access to the relay (SET)
and port (SET P) settings only. Use the corresponding relay and port settings
sheets that follow in this section when making these settings via the front
panel. Refer to Figure 8.1 on page 8.2 in Section 8: Front-Panel Interface for
information about the front panel.
View settings with the respective serial port SHOWSET commands (SHO,
SHO L, SHO P, SHO T, SHO R). See SHO (Showset) on page 7.15 in
Section 7: ASCII Command Reference.
The relay supports Relay, Logic, Port, Text, and Sequential Events Recorder
settings. A copy of all the settings is stored in nonvolatile EEPROM.
Voltage settings are in 1-V steps; current settings are in 0.1-A steps.
