Section 04 ENGINE
Subsection 05 (TOP END)
SMR2000-046_04_05A.FM 04-05-21
NOTE: The liquid level in cylinder must not drop
for a few seconds after filling. If so, there is a leak
between piston and cylinder. The recorded vol-
ume would be false.
5. Let burette stand upward for about 10 minutes,
until liquid level is stabilized.
6. Read the burette scale to obtain the quantity of
liquid injected in the combustion chamber.
Compare the obtained value with the table below.
The volume should be within the allowable range.
If the volume of the combustion chamber is not
within specifications, change cylinder base gasket
thickness as follow.
A higher volume dictates a thinner gasket.
A lower volume dictates a thicker gasket.
947 Carburetor-Equipped Engines
NOTE: When the combustion chamber is filled to
top of spark plug hole, it includes an amount of
2.39 cc corresponding to the spark plug tip. The
following table of combustion chamber volume in-
cludes this value.
All 947 Engines
7. Repeat the procedure for the other cylinder.
