WARNING
●
The visibility of the radar sensor can be im-
paired by dirt or environmental influences,
such as rain, fog, snow, mud, dust, insects,
etc.
●
Clean the sensor area on the bumper as
indicated in ›››page381, Cleaning the
exterior. When the radar sensor starts cor-
rectly detecting again, the message disap-
pears from the screen and the functions be-
come available again.
NOTICE
●
If the radar sensor is dirty or poorly ad-
justed, Front Assist system may give unnec-
essary warnings and apply the brakes inap-
propriately.
●
The operation of the radar can be aected
by strong reflections of the emitted signal.
This may occur, for example, in an enclosed
car park or due to the presence of metallic
objects (e.g. guard rails or sheets used in
road works).
●
The sensor may not be adjusted correctly
if it receives an impact. This may compro-
mise the system's ecacy or disconnect it. If
you have the feeling that the radar sensor is
damaged or adjusted incorrectly, switch o
Front Assist and ACC functions to avoid any
damage. If this occurs have it adjusted.
Front camera
Fig.129 On the windscreen: field of vision of
the Lane Assist system camera.
Depending on the equipment, the vehicle may
be fitted with a front camera on the front wind-
screen. This camera detects lane boundaries
(lines) to provide support for the following func-
tions:
●
Lane Assist ›››page210.
●
Travel Assist ›››page213.
●
Emergency assist ›››page217.
Automatic deactivation of supported func-
tions
The front camera automatically switches o
when, among other things, it detects that it is
permanently covered. This may be the case if,
for example, there is a layer of snow or ice.
If the camera is deactivated, the instrument
cluster will temporarily display the message
“Driver assist now limited. Front sensors
without visibility” accompanied by an audible
signal.
Due to the front sensor systems not being able
to see, each of the Lane Assist, Travel Assist and
Road Sign Recognition functions will be shown
as permanently disabled.
NOTICE
To avoid aecting the operation of the sys-
tems, take the following points into consider-
ation:
●
Clean the field of vision of the camera reg-
ularly and make sure it is free of snow and
ice.
●
Do not cover the field of vision of the cam-
era.
●
Check that the windscreen is not damaged
in the area of the camera's field of vision.
