Test Gas Measurement with GPP Measuring Probes

7.1 One-time preliminary measurement/determining the settings
Since each GPP is subject to certain fluctuations in production that cannot be compensated
for, or only with extreme effort (for example, porosity of the filter frit) and the filters can have
different lengths and comprise different materials, the ideal pressure parameters for the
test gas measurement must be determined before the first measurement. The GPP remains
installed in the gas duct for this purpose.
Preparations For a zero gas, as above (for example, N
2
or air)
‡ Start manual test
‡ Set the pressure reducer to 0 bar and open the valve fully
‡ Set the pressure to approx. 3 bar and observe the measurement values; if zero is not
reached after a certain period of time (30 s, depending on the T90 setting of the analyz-
er), increase the pressure gradually until zero is reached.
‡ When zero is reached, reduce the pressure gradually, observe the measurement values,
increase the values again above zero, and increase the pressure by approx. 0.5 bar.
‡ Note the pressure on the pressure gauge display on the AWE. These values can be used
in future to preset the pressure values. The differential pressure is in the range > 2 mbar
< 30 mbar.
‡ Close the valve on the pressure reducer; close the gas bottle.
7.2 Manual gas test
The following equipment is required for the manual test method:
Equipment • Test gas bottles (N
2
and gases to be tested), concentrations in accordance with the se-
lected measuring range
• Pressure gauge / pressure reducer
• 1/4" feed pipe with swage lock connection
Preparations ‡ Attach the pressure gauge/pressure reducer to the gas bottles. In doing so, secure the
bottles to prevent them from falling over.
‡ Connect the pipe between the pressure reducer and test gas connection (1st connec-
tion) on the GPP.
‡ Set the pressure gauge to the calculated prepressure (see One-time preliminary mea-
surement/determining the settings).
Perform the measurement.
Evaluation Unit
‡ Switch to Calibration mode and choose the Manual test option
– Choose the test gas, for example, N
2
as the zero gas and
– start the measurement with Enter
‡ Open the valve on the pressure reducer fully
‡ Note the measurement value display on the AWE and, if necessary, save the values with
the save option
‡ Close the valve on the pressure reducer; close the gas bottle.
‡ Repeat the procedure (preparation and measurement) with the other required test gases
‡ Switch to Measuring mode
