4.4.7 Calibrating for dust concentration measurement
For exact dust concentration measurement, the relation between the primary measured
variable transmission and the resulting calculated measured variable extinction and the
actual dust concentration in the duct must be established. To do this, the dust
concentration must be determined based on a gravimetric measurement according to DIN
EN 13284-1 or comparable regulations and set in relation to the scattered light values
measured at the same time by the measuring system.
Steps to be carried out
b
Select device file "MCU", set the measuring system to "Maintenance" mode and enter
the Level 1 password (
→
p. 55, §4.1.4).
b
Select the "Configuration / I/O Configuration / Output Parameters DUSTHUNTER“ direc-
tory (
→
p. 68, Fig. 53) and assign the "Extinction" measured variable to an analog output.
b
Estimate the measuring range required for the dust concentration in operational state
and enter this in the
"Analog Output 1
(2/3)
Skaling“
field assigned to the selected ana-
log output to output the extinction value.
b
Switch "Maintenance" off.
b
Carry out the gravimetric comparison measurement according to DIN EN 13284-1 or
comparable regulations.
b
Determine calibration coefficients from the mA values of the analog output for "Scat-
tered light intensity" and the actual dust concentrations measured gravimetrically.
c: dust concentration in mg/m³
K2, K1, K0: regression coefficients of the function c = f (Iout )
Iout: current output value in mA
Ext: measured extinction value
LZ: Live Zero
MBE: defined upper range limit (entered value for 20 mA; normally
2.5 x fixed limit value)
NOTICE:
The steps described here serve to avoid input errors. Carrying out comparison
measurements demands special knowledge that is not described in detail
here.
SICK can deliver a special program to determine the regression
coefficients (Part No. 7047546).
