5.1 Overview of the monitoring functions
The device comes equipped with monitoring functions, even in the basic version. The
following functions are available for displaying, monitoring and controlling when the
appropriate software in installed:
● Temperature monitoring (over-temperature, under-temperature or cable break at a
temperature sensor)
● Fan monitoring (fan speed too low, fan failure, or a break in a tachometer line)
● Monitoring of hard disks with S.M.A.R.T functionality even in a RAID system
● Watchdog (hardware or software reset of the computer)
● Operating hours meter (information on the cumulative run time)
● Battery monitoring (charge level of the CMOS battery is displayed)
● AMT (Active Management Technology)
SIMATIC IPC DiagBase software
Use the functions of the SIMATIC IPC DiagBase software, which is provided in the scope of
delivery, for local monitoring. Use the "DiagBase Management Explorer" application for clear
control. Use the DiagBase Alarm Manager to receive notifications about individual alarms.
