6.3 Memory expansion
The motherboard is equipped with four slots for memory modules. Use the modules to
expand the memory capacity of your device to a maximum of 32 GB. You can use
approximately 3.2 GB of this memory in a 32-bit operating system and much more in a 64-bit
operating system.
A detailed description of possible memory expansion options is available in the "Technical
manual of the motherboard" on the "Documentation and Drivers" DVD that ships with the
product.
6.4 Expansion modules
6.4.1 Notes on the modules
Note the following:
● Module specification
The device is designed for use with modules conforming to PCI specification 2.3 and
PCIe specification 1.0a (32-bit; 33 MHz, Rev. 2.3). The dimensions of the cards may not
exceed the specified dimensions. If the height is exceeded, you may experience contact
problems, malfunctions and difficulties with the assembly.
The permitted module dimensions are specified in the section Dimensional drawings for
the installatio
n of expansion modules (Page 94).
Note
Output is limited for PCI modules with 5V supply voltage. The output of the modules is
not permitted to exceed 25W in total.
● Long PCI, PCIe modules
To insert long modules into the guide rails, they must be equipped with an extender. The
extender should be included in the product package for long modules.
