Windows XP installation program
The language of the installation program and the Windows XP Professional operating
system is preset to English. You can change the language of Windows XP Professional once
you have installed it. You can find information on this in section: Setting up the language
sele
ction by means of the Multilanguage User Interface (MUI) (Page 85).
Setting up partitions and integrating storage controllers unknown to the operating system
During the installation, you can create partitions and integrate storage controllers needed for
the installation which are unknown to the operating system. Follow the instructions of the
Windows XP installation program for this purpose. More information on integrating storage
controllers is available in the section: Information for systems with RAID or AHCI controller.
The recommended minimum size of the partition on which you want to install Windows XP
varies depending on how much work memory and which additional software you want to use.
Information on partitioning of the data medium in the delivery state is provided in the
following table.
Partitions in the delivery state for Windows XP

Procedure for systems with RAID or AHCI controller
Data carrier controllers that are unknown to the operating system must be made known to
the operating system during installation. Proceed as follows:
1. Connect a USB floppy drive and insert the floppy disk with the controller driver.
2. Start the Windows installation process as described above.
3. To start installation of the storage controller, press the <F6> key at the start of the
Windows setup program (blue screen).
After a few seconds, a dialog for installation of the storage controllers appears.
4. Select the corresponding driver on the driver disk.

Select the following drivers for the onboard RAID or AHCI controller:
 For AHCI controller: "Intel(R) Desktop/Workstation/Server Express Chipset SATA
RAID Controller"
 For RAID controller: "Intel(R) Desktop/Workstation/Server Express Chipset SATA
AHCI Controller"
