This document serves as a service manual for the SKOPE BME-N ActiveCore SKOPE Bottom Mount Fridge Hydrocarbon series.
Function Description:
The SKOPE BME-N ActiveCore is a bottom-mount fridge that utilizes hydrocarbon (HC) R290 propane as its refrigerant. Hydrocarbon is a natural refrigerant with a very low environmental impact. The fridge is designed for commercial use, featuring a bottom-mounted refrigeration cartridge for easy servicing and replacement. It includes an electronic controller for managing refrigeration parameters, display, and user interaction, as well as LED modular interior and, in some models, sign lighting. The cabinet is designed to accommodate five layers of wire shelves, which can be repositioned to suit various products.
Important Technical Specifications:
- Refrigerant: Hydrocarbon (HC) R290 propane. Special service requirements apply due to its flammability.
- Controller: Wellington Drive SCS Connect electronic controller.
- Compressor: Wanbao FN90M, with a capacity of 740 Watts.
- Refrigerant Charge: R290 / 99 g.
- Fan Motor Torque Setting (Condenser & Evaporator): 1.5 Nm.
- Lighting: LED modular lights for interior and sign (BME-AC models). Fluorescent or LED tubes are not to be used as alternatives.
- Cabinet Models Covered:
- BME600-A ActiveCore: BME600N-A (SKOPE ID SM60GYN), BME600N-AC (SKOPE ID SM60BYN)
- BME1200-A ActiveCore: BME1200N-A (SKOPE ID SM12GYN), BME1200N-AC (SKOPE ID SM12BYN)
- Ventilation Clearances: Minimum 50 mm above, 50 mm behind (with rear spacer), and 50 mm below. No side clearance required.
- Door Tension: Internal torsion bar, pre-tensioned at the factory, with adjustable capstan.
- Gasket Seals: Cartridge gasket seals available in 2306 mm (PLE11052-2306) and 1571 mm (PLE11052-1571).
Usage Features:
- Electronic Controller Faceplate: Provides an interface with buttons for Night Mode, Light Switch (back/abort), Up, Bluetooth, Defrost Cycle (next/enter), Down, Fault - Alarm, Compressor, Defrost Mode, and Fan indicators.
- Service Mode: Accessible via the controller faceplate (with a 9-digit PIN code) or the SCS Connect Field app. Allows access to parameters, reset, manual tests, statistics, and system information.
- SKOPE Connect App: Designed for end-users, offering wireless access via Bluetooth to adjust energy-saving modes, open/close hours, and temperature set points. Available on Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
- Wellington Drive SCS Field App: For technicians, enabling connection and interaction with the controller via Bluetooth. Features include viewing current and 7-day historical states of cabinet components, manually changing component states, updating/changing controller parameters, and updating controller firmware.
- Wellington Drive Track App: Transfers data from SKOPE equipment to a cloud-based server automatically in the background, connecting via Bluetooth to controllers.
- Adjustable Shelves: Five layers of wire shelves can be repositioned at different heights using shelf clips, which twist onto support strips.
- Door Handles: Designed for easy fitting and removal, potentially for transport or moving through confined spaces.
- Sign Assembly: Some models feature a lit sign that can be removed for transport.
- Door Hinging Reversal: For single glass door standard (non-tropical) cabinets, the door hinging can be swapped from right-hand to left-hand side using a Left Hand Hinge Reversal Kit.
Maintenance Features:
- Hydrocarbon Servicing Requirements: Servicing of hydrocarbon refrigeration systems must only be performed by appropriately skilled and qualified refrigeration mechanics in a dedicated hydrocarbon workshop or service area with specific equipment (intrinsically safe vacuum pump, dedicated gauge set, flammable gas detector) and PPE. SKOPE does not recommend performing hazardous activities on the refrigeration system on-site.
- Refrigeration Cartridge: A bottom-mounted, electronically controlled, and removable cartridge. Only SKOPE-supplied parts specifically for this appliance may be used for repairs. The cartridge must only be used on a SKOPE hydrocarbon-compliant cabinet.
- Cleaning:
- Cabinet: Periodically wipe inside and outside with a damp cloth, avoiding electrical parts.
- Condenser and Air Filter: Monthly cleaning with a soft brush to remove dust and fluff is recommended. A more thorough cleaning is required every six months by qualified service personnel. The optional filter is disposable and should be replaced when worn; do not use hot water, blow dry, or place in a dishwasher.
- Component Replacement Procedures: Detailed instructions are provided for replacing various components, including:
- Lighting (interior light, sign light, light power supply, interior wiring loom).
- Doors (gasket, door removal/refitting, adjusting door tension, torsion bar replacement, hinge reversal).
- Refrigeration System (condenser fan, evaporator fan, compressor, control probe, evaporator probe, condenser probe, ambient probe).
- Electronic Controller (replacement and parameter loading via SCS Connect Field app).
- Troubleshooting: Comprehensive tables for diagnosing faults and alarms, including possible causes and repair actions. Faults and alarms can be monitored via the controller faceplate or the SCS Connect Field app.
- Spare Parts: Detailed lists and diagrams for main assembly, cabinet assembly, glass door assembly, lit sign assembly, and cartridge assembly, including SKOPE Part Numbers and color options.
- On-site Work Procedure: A flowchart guides technicians through diagnosing and addressing "not cooling" faults, including steps for gas detection, cartridge swap, and data reloading. Emphasizes safety protocols for handling flammable refrigerants.
