15.6 Sunny WebBox with GSM Modem
15.6.1 Notes on GSM Card Contract
In contrast to land line telephones, cell phone providers distinguish between voice and data services.
For example, cell phone providers provide different telephone numbers for voice and data for GSM
devices.
If not just outgoing, but also incoming data connections are to be enabled, a GSM device requires
dedicated data number which operates over the CSD data service. The Sunny WebBox does not
support other data services. A standard SIM card with additional data connectivity has two telephone
numbers (multi-numbering). You can apply for additional data connectivity with your service provider
when obtaining a contract. Outgoing data connections from the Sunny WebBox (access to an Internet
service provider) are possible without an additional data number.
15.6.2 Selecting a GSM Tariff
The actual data volume of the connected devices is decisive for the selection of the appropriate GSM
tariff. Refer to the following table to find out about the inverter’s expected monthly data volume.

Selecting the right GSM tariff
The stated data volumes are rough guideline values. They are derived from the number of
connected devices and their respective configurations. If you have any questions
concerning the selection of the right tariff, contact SMA.
