What to do if SMA SUNNY WEBBOX Measuring Instruments SD card is full?
    • K
      Kim RobertsSep 1, 2025
If you are experiencing issues with your SMA Measuring Instruments, it could be due to the SD card being full. Replace the SD card or format the SD card in FAT 32 format. Another potential cause is that the SD card is write-protected. Remove the write protection of the SD card.

How to resolve duplicate plant names in Sunny Portal after Sunny WebBox (SMA Measuring Instruments) replacement?
    • E
      Evan AdamsAug 31, 2025
If, after replacing a Sunny WebBox, Sunny Portal contains two plants with the same name, it indicates a double Sunny Portal registration. To correct this, assign the plant ID of the old plant to the replacement device. Also, enter the e-mail address of a user with administrator rights in Sunny Portal for the plant into the replacement device. Finally, delete the new plant that the replacement device created in Sunny Portal.

Why is the SMACOM LED glowing red on my Sunny WebBox Measuring Instruments?
    • R
      Rebecca ClaySep 14, 2025
If the SMACOM LED glows red on your Sunny WebBox Measuring Instruments, ensure that no more than one master is connected to the RS485 communication bus. SMA devices which can be connected to a communication bus as a master include the Sunny WebBox and Sunny Boy Control. More than one master might be connected on the RS485 communication bus.

Why does Sunny Portal contain two plants with the same name after Sunny WebBox Measuring Instruments replacement?
    • R
      Robert Adams Jr.Sep 14, 2025
If, after replacing a Sunny WebBox Measuring Instruments, Sunny Portal contains two plants with the same name, assign the plant identifier of the old system to the replacement device. In the replacement device, enter the e-mail address of a user who has Sunny Portal administrator rights to the plant. In Sunny Portal, delete the new plant the replacement device created. A Sunny WebBox that is supplied as a replacement device logs into Sunny Portal with a new plant identifier. Sunny Portal creates a new plant for this plant identifier, even if you gave the plant the same name.

What to do if firmware update for SMA SUNNY WEBBOX Measuring Instruments failed?
    • A
      Autumn BowenNov 23, 2025
If the firmware update for your SMA Measuring Instruments connected devices failed, it could be due to a few reasons. First, ensure that you have a stable internet connection. If the connection drops during the update, it can cause the process to fail. If you have set automatic device updates, the system will retry the following day. You can also manually initiate the update. Another potential cause is removing the SD card during the update. If this happens, reinsert the SD card and manually start the device update. Finally, the update may fail if the update file wasn't sent to the devices in the PV plant after five attempts. In this case, check the Bluetooth connection status, as interruptions can occur due to low DC input voltage, which varies with weather and PV module conditions. Impro...

How to fix Sunny WebBox (SMA Measuring Instruments) not available?
    • S
      Stephanie ScottAug 27, 2025
If the Sunny WebBox from SMA is not available via the user interface or cannot be found via the Sunny WebBox Assistant, it might be due to several reasons. First, ensure the Sunny WebBox is properly connected to both the network and the power supply. If the connections are fine, the issue might stem from incorrect network settings. Use the Sunny WebBox Assistant for commissioning, check and align your computer's network settings, reset the Sunny WebBox, and verify the settings for all network components like routers or proxy servers. A firewall could also be blocking the connection, so try deactivating it or enabling the necessary connection. Lastly, defective network components or cables can cause this issue, so replace any damaged parts.

Why can't I access the Sunny WebBox Measuring Instruments user interface via URL?
    • A
      Austin RobertsAug 26, 2025
If the user interface for your Sunny WebBox Measuring Instruments cannot be accessed via the URL, ensure that DHCP is activated. If that doesn't help, use static network settings. The Sunny WebBox could not obtain network settings from the DHCP server.
