See page 171 for the pin out specifications and connector part numbers.
The External Power connectors on the Instrument Panel and on the Electronics Box do
not supply power and do they have anything to do with the mount’s power supply unit.
These connectors act as a built-in “extension cable” that can carry DC power from an
external DC power source. The DC power enters the External Power connector located
on the Electronics Box and exits at the External Power connector on the Instrument
Panel. See “Error! Not a valid result for table.” on page 171 for more information.
Do not plug the Paramount ME power supply into this port! See Power Input (48V
Power In)” on page 68 for instructions on how to supply power the Paramount ME.
USB C Port (USB)
Plug the USB-C end of the supplied USB cable into the port labeled USB-C.
TCS Status LED (TCS)
The Telescope Control System (TCS) status light emitting diode (LED) “pulsates” from bright to faint to
provide visual confirmation that the control system is operating normally. If this LED is not illuminated
after turning the mount on, there may be a problem with the Bisque TCS. Please contact Software Bisque
(page 14) for further troubleshooting advice.
Hour Angle and Declination LEDs (HA and Dec)
The hour angle and declination LEDs show the status of the DC-servo motors. The LEDs blink while the
motors are being initialized. When the LEDs shine steadily, the motor is operating normally and ready for
use. If either LED is not illuminated, motor initialization failed. An unbalanced payload, uncentered
joystick, or depressed joystick button can cause motor initialization failure. Turn the power off, make sure
the mount payload is properly balanced, the joystick on the hand controller is centered, and the joystick
button is not pressed before repowering the mount to see if the behavior persists.
Hand Controller or Joystick Port (Joystick)
Plug the RJ12 connector on the Paramount hand controller or the Paramount ME joystick to manually
home and slew the mount. See page 96 for details about this component.
Mount Power Switch (On/Off)
This switch turns the mount on (up position) and off (down position).
Power Input (48V Power In)
This port is used to supply power to the mount’s control system. The Electronics Box’s female 48V Power
In port accepts a 2.5 mm Kobiconn DC power plug with a locking collar (Mouser Electronics part number:
171-7395, http://www.mouser.com).
