IN-FLIGHT BRAKING
In-ight braking requires simultaneous ap and aileron deployment in order to create drag and
slow the aircraft. These complicated mixing functions are often referred to as Crow or Buttery.
Crow is a ight mode where the aps deploy and the ailerons reex upward. The sailplane is put
into a steep dive before crow is deployed, and even the fastest, most streamlined sailplanes can
be landed slowly, with precision.
To achieve crow functionality, the pre-congured ap-to-aileron mix is used to raise the ailerons
when the aps deploy. Ensure the mix is congured correctly. See the Mixing, Back Mixing
section for more information.
