If the NORM No. is not acceptable, or if the measured
shock pulse pattern is not within the range of possible
signals from the bearing, the A2010 will display one
of the error codes listed in figure 11.
E2 is displayed when the instrument recognizes a
disturbance pattern which is typical for pump cavita-
tion, high pressure steam, air or liquid flow. Rubbing
between machine parts can also give CODE E2.
E2 is also displayed when the measurement is inter-
rupted before a measuring cycle is completed. Possi-
ble cause is a sudden drop in signal strength during
the reading (intermittent disturbance).
Locate and try to eliminate the source. Use the probe
transducer and the earphone and measure outside of
the bearing housing. The signal is strongest close to
the source.
E3 indicates that the incoming signal is too low. Check
that the transducer is connected and the bearing is
rotating normally. Very lightly loaded bearings may
be sliding instead of rolling and produce a very low
signal.
Check the basic bearing data. A poor measuring point
can also cause this code (signal loss due to interfaces,
long or bent signal path). The measuring point may
need individual calibration with the SPM LUBMASTER
program PRO-30.
Some types of disturbances can emit strong signals
that do not contain a HR element, and therefore cause
code E3.

List of Error Codes
E2 Disturbance
E3 Signal too low or disturbance
E5 NORM number too low
E5 means that the pre-set NORM No. is too low. It is
either below the minimum for the probe transducer
(min. 18), or below 10.
