6) Measure the voltage at the Red wire B and ground.
7) Also, measure the voltage at the Red wire B and B/Br wire C.
$ TP sensor input voltage: 4.5 – 5.5 V
(+ Red – - Ground)
(+ Red – - B/Br)
# 09900-25008: Multi-circuit tester set
' Tester knob indication: Voltage (()
Is the voltage OK?
Step 2
1) Turn the ignition switch ON.
2) Connect the test harness 1 between TP sensor and wire har-
ness.
3) Measure the TP sensor output voltage at the coupler
(between + P/W and - B/Br) by turning the throttle grip.
$ TP sensor output voltage
Throttle valve is closed: Approx. 1.1 V
Throttle valve is opened:Approx. 4.3 V

YES Go to Step 2.
NO
• Loose or poor contacts on the ECM coupler
(terminal 5 or B).

YES
• R, B/Br or P/W wire open or shorted to ground,
or poor 5, B or K connection.
• If wire and connection are OK, intermittent trou-
ble or faulty ECM.
• Recheck each terminal and wire harness for
open circuit and poor connection.
• Replace the ECM with a known good one, and
inspect it again.
NO
• Reset the TP sensor position correctly.
• Replace the TP sensor with a new one.
