c) Switching frequency
Switching by this function can be made only when the
15 MHz B probe is used.
Select a frequency setting (1) from 15 MHz, 20 MHz, and Harmonic.
[Characteristics of individual settings]
Mode Characteristics
15MHz Performs the standard observation of the retina, vitreous, and eye
posterior area.
20MHz Used to create an image by sending and receiving 20 MHz ultrasound.
The high frequency of this mode in both transmission and receiving realizes
high resolution in the distance direction (the depth direction, i.e. the
horizontal direction in the image).
This mode, therefore, shows finer view of membranous bodies.
Harmonic This mode transmits 15 MHz ultrasound (Fundamental wave) and extracts
twofold frequencies (harmonic ingredients) for creation of the image.
This mode creates images with better resolution in the azimuth direction
(vertical direction in the image) and with less artifacts, describing the tissue
faithfully.
This mode, therefore, suits for obtaining clear structure images of an optic
papilla, macular area, and tumor.
