1.4 Overview
This instrument is designed as an ophthalmology device with a function which retrieves ultrasound
topographic images of living tissues using ultrasound waves generated from an ultrasound
transducer built into the probe and with that which retrieves and displays measurement results via
communication from instruments which have functions such as axial length measurements,
cornea thickness measurements, etc. Transmission of ultrasound waves is stopped when
images or waveforms freeze.
1.4.1 B-mode Image Diagnostic Function
● From the B-mode probe connected to the main unit, images and
displays the tissue of the scanned eyeball cross section generating
and scanning ultrasound waves into the eyeball and using
ultrasonic echos reflected from each tissue inside the eyeball.
● For 15MHz B probe, controls the focus area of the ultrasound
beam using annular array vibrators consisting of five vibrators
located at concentric. So high resolution ultrasound
topographic images can be obtained in wider range.
● 400 images is always stored (when 15MHz B probe used),
which ensures that the most optimal image can be found by
verifying stored images repeatedly via functions of viewing a
series of images, frame advance, and frame rewind.
1.4.2 Axial Length Measurement Auxiliary Function
● A function of providing information for deciding which value
should be adopted using B-mode images when it cannot be
determined which value should be adopted due to unstable
results of axial length measurements from normal axial length
measurement function due to a disorder in the eye, etc.
● This function is an auxiliary function of axial length
measurement but is not the main axial length measurement
function.
