7.Forthedeckmotorthatistobetested,cleanthejunctionofthehydraulic
returnhoseanddeckmotorttingatthemotoroutlet(Figure64).
8.Disconnectthereturnhosefromthemotor,installatesterwiththepressure
gaugeandowmeterinserieswiththemotoranddisconnectedreturnhose.
Ensurethattheowcontrolvalveontesterisfullyopen.
Note:Useagraduatedcontainer,thespecialtoolTOR4077,tomeasure
thecasedrainleakage(Figure63).
9.Starttheengineandrunitatlow-idlespeed.Checkforhydraulic-uidleaks
fromthetestconnectionsandcorrectbeforecontinuingthetest.
CAUTION
Thecuttingdeckbladeswillrotatewhenyouperformthemotor
efciencytest.Keepawayfromthecuttingdecksduringthetest
topreventpersonalinjuryfromtherotatingblades.Donotstand
infrontofthemachine.
Note:Thistestrequires2people(oneintheseatandoneatthecutting
deckmotor).
10.Sitontheseatwiththeenginerunning,presstheenginespeedswitchtofull
speed(3,005to3,055rpm)position.UsetheInfoCentertocheckthatthe
enginespeediscorrect.PressthePTOswitchtoONposition,andengage
thecuttingdecks.
11.Monitorthetesterpressuregaugecarefullywhileyouslowlyclosetheow
controlvalveuntilapressureof13,800kPa(2,000psi)isobtained.
12.Haveanassistantplacethedisconnectedmotorcasedrainhoseintoa
containergraduatedinouncesormilliliters(T oroPartNo.TOR4077)and
collectthehydraulicuidfor10seconds.
13.After10seconds,removethehoseendfromthecontainer,andthenmove
thePTOswitchtoOFFposition,openthetesterowcontrolvalve,andshut
offtheengine.
14.Identifytheamountofuidcollectedinthecontainer.Recordthetestresults.
Iftheowwasgreaterthan739ml(25oz)and4.5L/minute(1.18
gallons/minute),repairorreplacethetesteddeckmotor;refertoServicing
theCuttingDeckMotor(page4–134).
15.Afteryoucompletethetesting,shutofftheengine.Disconnectthetester
fromthemotorandreturnhose.
16.Connectthereturnhosetothedeckmotor,removetheplugfromthemachine
bulkheadtting,andconnectthecasedrainhosetothetting.
17.Ifnecessary,performthemotorefciencytestontheotherdeckmotors.
IMPORTANT
Whentestingmorethanonecuttingunitmotor,checkandadjustthe
hydraulic-uidlevelinthetankaftertestingeachmotor.
18.Whentestingiscomplete,starttheengine,checkforhydraulic-uidleaks,
repairanyleaksasrequired,andllthehydraulictankwiththecorrect
quantityofnewhydraulicuidbeforereturningthemachinetoservice.
