11.4 When Firmware Update Failed
When the power is turned OFF during the firmware update or the equipment does not reboot after
updating, perform Recovery Update in accordance with the procedures [A] and [B].
[A] Recovering SYSTEM FIRMWARE and updating firmware
[B] Restoring the encryption Key and License
Notes:
• When the normal HDD is installed in the equipment, perform the procedure [A], shut down the
equipment and then check that it reboots normally. (This is the end of the process.)
• When the security HDD is installed in the equipment, perform the procedures [A] and then [B].
• When the type of the HDD installed in the equipment is unknown, it can be checked by means
of [HS-74] after the procedure [A] is performed.
[A] Recovering SYSTEM FIRMWARE and updating firmware
(1) Turn the power OFF and unplug the power cable.
(2) Take off the rear cover and the SYS board cover.

(5) Plug in the power cable and turn the power ON.
(6) Enter the service password in the authentication screen.
(7) Press [Normal Update] and select "SYSTEM FIRMWARE(OS DATA)".
* Once this has been done, a check mark appears at its left.
(8) Press [OK] to shift to the confirmation screen.
(9) Check that "SYSTEM FIRMWARE(OS DATA)" appears on the confirmation screen. Press [OK]
to recover and update SYSTEM FIRMWARE.
* When SYSTEM FIRMWARE updating is finished, "Completed" appears on the screen.
(10) Shut down the equipment. Turn the power OFF and unplug the power cable.
(3) Disconnect the jumper [2] from CN106 on
the SYS board [1].

(4) Insert the USB storage device [1] in which
the file for updating is stored into the
connector [2].
