MZ Tow Tractor Section 2
5. Drive Direction Selector
The drive direction lever controls vehicle travel direction (traction motor rotation) by supplying
signals to the inverter control board. To select a vehicle drive direction:
(a) Lift upward on selector detent knob.
(b) Move direction selector lever up (towards front of vehicle) to select REVERSE drive
direction.
(c) Move direction selector lever down (towards drivers seat) to select FORWARD
drive direction.
(d) NEUTRAL is located midway between FORWARD and REVERSE.
NOTE: Export vehicles and certain industrial applications may deviate
from this convention.
6. Inching Controls (Optional)
The optional inching function enables the operator to move the tractor short distances when
one of two vehicle-mounted switches is depressed. The purpose of this function is to enable
the operator to "nudge" the tractor up to a trailer while standing at the front or rear of the
vehicle. One configuration has forward and reverse inching switches mounted at the rear of
the vehicle, with a second pair of switches available for the front of the vehicle.
If both the forward and reverse inching switches are pushed simultaneously, the inching
function is disabled until one of the switches is released. For the inching function to be
enabled, the following conditions are required:
(a) Master switch turned to ON position.
(b) Operator is off the driver's seat.
(c) Direction lever switch in NEUTRAL.
(d) Service brake pedal released.
(e) Parking brake released.
