F. ADJUSTMENTS
WARNING: DRIVE TRAIN HAS NO “PARK” POSITION AND MUST
RELY ON PARK BRAKE TO PREVENT VEHICLE FROM ROLLING.
ALWAYS MAKE SURE PARK BRAKE IS PROPERLY ADJUSTED
BEFORE PUTTING VEHICLE INTO SERVICE.
1. Park Brake Adjustment
When properly adjusted, the parking brake will prevent the MZ Tow Tractor from rolling when
parked on a 10% grade. Engaging a properly adjusted parking brake should not require an
excessive amount of force, however some slight resistance will be present when engaging.
Use the following procedure to adjust the parking brake:
(a) If parking brake hand lever is equipped with a locking set screw, loosen the set screw.
(b) To tighten parking brake, turn knurled knob at the end of the hand lever clockwise.
(c) To loosen parking brake, turn knurled knob at the end of the hand lever
counterclockwise.
(d) If parking brake hand lever is equipped with a locking set screw, tighten the set
screw.
2. Service Brake Adjustment
Service brakes are factory preset for safety. Do not readjust unless servicing the complete
brake system. To adjust service brakes:
(a) Loosen stop nut on brake rod.
CAUTION: DO NOT ALLOW BRAKE ROD TO PRE-LOAD THE
MASTER CYLINDER. DOING SO WILL CAUSE BRAKE DRAG AND
WILL RESULT IN BRAKE DAMAGE.
(b) The service brake pedal height can be adjusted by threading the clevis on the master
cylinder.
