Section 1 MZ Tow Tractor
3. Two-Week or 100-Hour Check
WARNING: DRIVE TRAIN HAS NO “PARK” POSITION AND MUST
RELY ON PARK BRAKE TO PREVENT VEHICLE FROM ROLLING.
ALWAYS MAKE SURE PARK BRAKE IS PROPERLY ADJUSTED
BEFORE PUTTING VEHICLE INTO SERVICE.
(a) Check parking brake. With the parking brake handle in ‘lock’ position, the tractor
should not move on a 10% or less grade. If the tractor does not move, no adjustment
is necessary. If the tractor rolls, adjustment is necessary. Follow the recommended
adjustment instructions in this section.
(b) Check power steering accumulator precharge (if equipped). See paragraph H.
(c) Check adjusting slides beneath the operator’s seat.
(d) Check/lube service brake pedal pivot.
(e) Lube park brake lever pivots and check park brake linkage.
(f) Check accelerator pedal for proper operation.
(g) Check/lube all grease fittings.
(h) Check console and battery cover latches and hinges.
(i) Check cab door handles (if equipped).
(j) Check for power steering fluid leaks.
(k) Check/lube steer axle, king pins, and tie rod ends.
(l) Check that front brake calipers are free floating.
4. Two Months or 400-Hour Check
(a) Check front brake pads.
(b) Inspect front wheel bearings; clean and repack.
(c) Check brushes in power steering pump.
