6.1.3.5 Fault diagnosis and on - board maintenance
1. Fault diagnosis:
Problem Cause Treatment method
Leakage in front shock absorber
Oil seal damage
Wear of inner wall of aluminum cylin-
der
Wear of outer wall of handle tube
Seal ring damage
Bolt looseness
Inner circlip damage
The front shock absorber shall not
be disassemblyd or repaired to avoid
affecting the performance. If the
front fork is found to be damaged or
not working smoothly, contact Yadea
dealer for inspection or replacement.
Front shock absorber jamming and
not working
Wear of inner wall of aluminum cylin-
der
Wear of outer wall of handle tube
Piston assembly damage
Sediment in the working chamber
Front shock absorber softened
Main spring damage
Seal ring damage
Front shock absorber hardened
Main spring damage
Dust cover damage Long - term wear
Replace the dust cover
2. On - board maintenance:
a. Park the vehicle on a flat pavement
Caution:
Use the main support.
Warning:
Make sure the vehicle is securely supported to avoid the
danger of overturning.
b. Raise the front wheels 30-45mm off the ground using
supports under the body.
c. Check:
Steering assembly
(1) Hold the bottom of the front fork in both hands and
shake it back and forth.
(2) Adjust the steering column if it is found to be loose
Specific steps to adjust steering column:
(1) Remove the lock nut - 1 -.
(2) Remove the check washer - 2 -.
(3) Remove the upper fender - 3 -.
Caution:
At this time, the front fork component will fall off. Before
removing the upper fender, the support shall be placed
under the front wheel, and a gap of 2-5mm shall be left
between the wheel and the surface of the support. Hold
the bottom end of the front fork assembly in one hand,
hold the front fork assembly and keep it still, and withdraw
the support under the wheel. Lower the front fork assem-
bly slowly.
(4)
Check whether the upper steering bearing - 4 - and
lower steering bearing - 7 - are damaged (steel ball
falling off or rust and supporting seat damage)→ check
the upper steel bowl - 5 - low steel bowl - 6 - upper
fender - 3 - lower fender - 8 - for damage (rust, crack,
break, etc.) and replace them→ check the grease for
serious aging or contamination (blackening) → replace.
(5) After confirming that the parts are intact, lift the front
fork assembly and tighten the lock nut - 1 - to check
for rotational flexibility.
(6) Inflexibility → Loosen the lock nut - 1 - for adjustment
to flexible steering and No up - and - down pulsation
of steering column.
(7) Install the check washer - 2 -.
(8) Fasten the lock nut - 1 - (torsion: 75N~85N).
(9) Check the rotational flexibility again: inflexibility→
Loosen the lock nut - 1 - , adjust the upper fender - 3
- , fasten the lock nut - 1 - for adjustment to flexible
steering and No up - and - down pulsation of steering
column. After confirming flexibility, fasten the upper
fender - 3 - reversely
