(21) Mounting the rocker arm shaft assembly
and push rods
1) Fit the push rod to the tappet.
2) Coat the top of the push rod and the adjusting
screw of the rocker arm with engine oil. Mount
the rocker arm shaft assembly to the cylinder
head. (Apply lube oil to the screw and lock
nut.)
3) Adjust valve clearance
4) Coat the rocker arm and valve spring with
engine oil and mount the rocker arm cover.
(22) Mounting the fuel injection pump
For 3JH4E and 4JH4E
1) Lightly fit the fuel injection pump on the gear
case flange. (After adjusting injection timing,
tighten the fuel injection pump).
Note:
Be careful not to scratch the O-ring between
the fuel injection pump and gear case flange.
2) Fit the fuel injection pump drive gear to the
fuel pump camshaft.
3) Align the "B" match marks on the fuel injection
pump drive gear and idle gear.
4) Tighten the pump drive gear nut fastening the
fuel pump gear and camshaft to the specified
torque. (Do not apply lube oil to the nut.)
5) Measure the backlash between the fuel
injection pump drive gear and idle gear.
