11.3 Installing the Windows 2000/XP Driver
Use this procedure to install the Abaxis driver that enables the analyzer to communicate with a PC
running Windows 2000 or XP. The analyzer installs on the PC as a virtual communication port in
Windows.
Installation requires the following:
■ VetScan VS2 Analyzer
■ PC with Windows 2000 or XP, and a USB port
■ Type A/Type B USB cable
■ Abaxis Driver CD
Note: Driver installation in Windows 2000 or XP requires a user account
with administrative privileges.
The screenshots in these instructions are from a typical Windows XP
Professional installation. Some of these screens may vary on your sys-
tem and in other versions of Windows.
Install the driver as follows.
1. Insert the Abaxis Driver CD (software files: P/N 110-5001) into the computer’s CD drive.
2. The computer’s default web browser then opens, displaying the VS2 driver installation
guide links. Close the browser.
3. Go to Start > My Computer to
display the computer’s drives.
4. Right-click the CD drive icon,
and select Explore from the pop-
up menu.
