11.5 Installing the Mac OS X Driver
Use this procedure to install the Abaxis driver that enables the Abaxis analyzer to communicate
with a Mac. The analyzer installs on the Mac as a virtual communication port in Mac OS X.
Installation requires the following:
■ VetScan VS2 Analyzer
■ Mac computer with Mac OS X and a USB port
■ Type A/Type B USB cable
■ Abaxis Driver CD
Note: The screenshots in these instructions are from a typical Mac OS X
installation. Some of these screens may vary in other versions of
Mac OS X.
Install the driver as follows.
1. Turn on the Mac, and insert the Abaxis Driver CD into the Mac’s CD-ROM drive.
Do not connect the analyzer to the Mac yet.
2. Browse to the CD drive and run FTDIUSBSerialDriver_vX_X_X.dmg in the Mac\Intel
folder for Intel-based Macs, or run FTDIUSBSerialDriver_vX_X_X.dmg in the
Mac\PPC folder for PowerPC-based Macs.
3. Click Continue.
