5.2.1 Recommended positioning of temperature probe for
humidifier
One of the major sources of problems in neonatal ventilation is, that excessive rainout affects
accuracy of flow measurement and therefore compromises its use in various modes of
ventilation. We recommend carefully following the manufacturer’s instructions for use of the
Humidifier to minimize the risk of rainout in the Patient Circuit.
If patient is positioned in incubator,
the following setup is
recommended:
Place temperature probe outside
the incubator and use Incubator
extension line.
If the patient is in the open warmer
unit, the following setup must be
used:
