11.9.2 Volume guarantee
Volume Guarantee is a pressure controlling function that adjusts the inspiratory pressure to
achieve the operator set targeted tidal volume. See chapter 17: “Guide to Volume Guarantee
(VG)” for detailed information.
In the event flow measurement becomes unavailable (i.e. bad flow sensor or
changing the flow sensor) Volume Guarantee function will automatically be
deactivated.
After flow measurement is available again Volume Guarantee will
automatically be reactivated.
In the event of possible tube occlusion condition (i.e. “Check ETT tube”
alarm) Volume Guarantee function will automatically be deactivated.
After the tube occlusion condition is removed Volume Guarantee will
automatically be reactivated.
11.10 Special functions
11.10.1 Manual inspiration (manual Breath)
In all Ventilation modes (except O
2
Therapy), a Manual breath can be
triggered (with the Ventilation parameters set in the current Ventilation
mode) by pressing the Manual Inspiration button.
• The manual breath will continue while the manual breath key
remains depressed. The maximum duration of the manual breath
can be set under the Configurations menu -> Ventilation.
• This could last from 2 to 30 seconds, then a termination of the
manual breath will be forced.
• The next manual breath is only allowed after a Block Period of 200
milliseconds.
NOTE: Manual Breath is NOT available in O
2
Therapy mode.
A Manual breath however can lead to lung over distension.
If activated, some clinicians use this for a manual sustained lung inflation
after suctioning.
