Electrical Considerations
Grounding considerations
To prevent ground loops, the laser head base should be isolated from
earth ground using insulators. The neutral lines of the ±15 volt power
supplies, which are used to power the laser head, should be grounded
within the electronics bay in which the supplies are housed.
Power supply requirements
Table 7 lists the supply voltages, currents, and tolerances required by the
laser head. Note that other components of the system also use ±15V. Add
these to the laser head current requirements to obtain the overall system
requirements.
Power dissipation
The laser head dissipates approximately 23 watts during operation.
Fusing
The following fuse information applies to all laser heads.
Observe the current and grounding requirem ents described in the
following paragraph.
Tab le 7 Laser Head Power Supply requirements
Supply Voltage Tolerance Requirement
+15 Volts ± 0.3 Volts 3 Amperes
–15 Volts ± 0.3 Volts 0.3 Amperes
Other Power Supply Requirements
Line Regulation 0.01%
Load Regulation 0.07%
Ripple + Noise 60 millivolts peak-to-peak maximum
Isolated Output Over Voltage Protection (Recommended)
Under Voltage Protection—current limited (Recommended)
