Introduction
This chapter provides unpacking, inspection, warranty claims, and
instructions on how to return the laser head to Agilent for service. It also
describes how to service the laser head, how to isolate the failed assembly,
and how to order replacement assemblies. (The tube and the high voltage
power supply are replaced as a pair.)
Unpacking and Inspection
Inspect the shipping container for damage. If the container or cushioning
material is damaged, it should be kept until the shipment has been
checked for completeness and the instrument has been checked
mechanically and electrically. Procedures for checking electrical
performance are covered Chapter 4, “Performance Tests”. If the contents
are incomplete, or if the instrument or some component is damaged or
fails the performance tests, notify the nearest Agilent office. If the
shipping container is damaged or shows signs of stress, notify the carrier
as well as the Agilent office. Keep the shipping materials for the carrier’s
inspection. The Agilent office will arrange for repair or replacement, at
Agilent’s option, without waiting for a claim settlement.
Warranty Claims
Contact the nearest Agilent Sales Office (see Service and Support at the
end of this manual) for information relative to warranty claims.
Contacting Agilent Technologies
There are two ways in which you can get parts information from Agilent.
• By web site, visit www.parts.agilent.com, where you will find
“Find- A- Part - Agilent Parts Reference Tool”.
• By telephone, see “Service and Support" on page 83 to speak with an
Agilent Representative and order parts.
To avoid hazardous electric shock, do not perform electrical tests
when there are signs of shipping damage to any portion of the outer
enclosure, such as the covers, panels, connectors or LEDs.
Always turn off, or disconnect, the laser head power s upply, s uch
as the Agilent 10884B, before connecting or disconnecting cable s
to or from the rear panel of the laser head.
