Load new cantilever:
• Use tweezers to slide the new cantilever
under the clip. You can “push” or “pull”
the cantilever into place as you find
comfortable.
• Position the cantilever so that the tip is
approximately centered in the cantilever
holder window.
Note You may nudge the cantilever chip
from the side to align it, but do NOT nudge
the end of the chip, as you risk damaging the
cantilever. It helps to do this at least once
under a binocular stereo microscope.

Secure the new cantilever:
• Using fingertip pressure only, lightly tighten the screw securing the cantilever to the
cantilever holder.
• The clip should be just tight enough to secure the cantilever chip when it is pushed
from the side.
