Safety Symbols
The fol low ing sym bols may be marked on the pan els or cov ers of equip -
ment or mod ules, and are used in this man ual:
WARNING!—This sym bol alerts you to a po ten tially haz ard ous con di -
tion, such as the pres ence of dan ger ous volt age that could pose a risk of
elec tri cal shock. Re fer to the ac com pa ny ing warn ing la bel or tag, and ex er -
cise extreme caution.
ATTENTION!—This sym bol alerts you to im por tant op er at ing con sid er -
ations or a po ten tial op er at ing con di tion that could dam age equip ment. If
you see this marked on equip ment, re fer to the Op er a tor’s Man ual or
User’s Man ual for pre cau tion ary instructions.
FUNCTIONAL EARTH TERMINAL—A ter mi nal marked with this sym -
bol is elec tri cally con nected to a ref er ence point of a mea sur ing cir cuit or
out put and is in tended to be earthed for any func tional pur pose other than
safety.
PROTECTIVE EARTH TERMINAL—A ter mi nal marked with this sym -
bol is bonded to con duc tive parts of the in stru ment and is in tended to be
con nected to an ex ter nal pro tec tive earthing system.
