ATS-2 User Interface
Overview
ATS-2 is con trolled by the ATS soft ware run ning on the con trol ler PC
via the Au dio Pre ci sion In ter face Bus (APIB). The hard ware is con fig ured
through set tings in fields on soft ware pan els, and read ings (mea sure ments)
are taken from me ters on other pan els. It is also pos si ble to change set tings
and col lect read ings pro gram mat i cally using the AP Basic language.
When or dered in the op tional GPIB con fig u ra tion (ATS2G), ATS-2 can
also be con trolled by the in dus try-stan dard IEEE 488.2 Gen eral Pur pose
In ter face Bus (GPIB). GPIB op er a tion is not cov ered in this chap ter. See
Chap ter 7 for more in for ma tion about the ATS-2 GPIB configuration.
Like many Win dows ap pli ca tions, the ATS user in ter face has a menu
bar, a sta tus bar, toolbars, and a workspace. With these tools you can save
test and data files, ex port and print mea sure ment re sults, con fig ure the
hard ware and soft ware to your needs, ac cess on line help, de sign and
launch au to mated pro cesses and, of course, open and op er ate the in stru -
ment pan els where the core test and mea sure ment work is performed.
The ATS soft ware is a pow er ful and com plex pro gram. This chap ter pro -
vides a quick in tro duc tion to its fea tures. For an in-depth dis cus sion, re fer
to the ATS-2 User’s Man ual.
A Note on Nomenclature
In this chap ter we use the fol low ing short hand:

Menu > Item. This refers to choosing an item from one of the
pull-down menus located at the top of the workspace. For instance,
‘choose Utilities > Restore’ means that you select the Utilities
pull-down menu, then click on the Restore item.
